Antam Sells Gold at Lampung Festival
Antam is selling physical gold directly to consumers at the Lampung Financial Festival in Bandar Lampung, underscoring steady retail appetite for bullion in Indonesia as investors look for a hedge against volatility and as the state miner pushes closer contact with small buyers.
The booth at Novotel Lampung is offering Antam Logam Mulia bars from 0.5 gram to 100 grams in ready stock, with prices starting at Rp1.37 million for 0.5 gram and Rp2.64 million for 1 gram, according to the company’s price list dated Sept. 5. Larger bars are also on sale, including 25 grams at Rp64.71 million, 50 grams at Rp129.255 million and 100 grams at Rp258.36 million.
Antam is using the event not just to sell gold, but to educate visitors — many of them students — on how to invest in bullion. The company is also offering a one-year free Brankas membership for customers who sign up at the festival, a sign it is trying to capture first-time buyers and convert event traffic into longer-term storage and investment relationships.
The retail push comes as gold remains a closely watched asset globally. On the latest pricing data, Antam’s share price on the Jakarta market traded at 3,120 rupiah on Sept. 4, above its 50-day moving average but still below the 200-day average, while global gold proxy GLD finished at $406.77 after a volatile run. Adalytica’s Gold Fear & Greed Index showed “Fear” at 16, with “Extreme Fear” awareness at 15, pointing to a market backdrop that can keep bullion demand supported.
For investors, the event reinforces two themes: Indonesia’s gold market still has deep retail demand, and Antam continues to benefit from its dominant brand in physical bullion. It also comes against a backdrop of tighter scrutiny of the sector, after authorities in North Sulawesi intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 16 gold bars and arrested two Chinese nationals, highlighting the government’s continued crackdown on illegal mining and illicit trade.
The immediate catalyst for Antam will be whether retail buying momentum from events like Lampung translates into broader sales volumes, while the wider gold market will keep tracking inflation, the dollar and safe-haven flows. For now, Antam’s festival sales point to a consumer base still willing to buy bullion even as prices remain elevated.
