Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Near Highs as RSI Heats Up
Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Dogecoin are holding close to recent highs, but traders are increasingly positioning for a pullback after a sharp run-up in digital assets pushed momentum gauges to stretched levels.
The move matters because crypto’s latest rally has already pulled a broad swath of the market higher, but it is now running into the kind of technical conditions that often invite profit-taking. Bitcoin’s 14-day RSI is 88.6, Ethereum’s is 84.4 and XRP’s is 80.1, readings that point to an overheated market even as prices stay elevated.
Bitcoin was last at $78,810.89, little changed on the session after touching an intraday high of $79,026.75. Ethereum traded at $2,498.27, while XRP was at $1.41. Dogecoin, which tends to amplify shifts in retail risk appetite, has also remained resilient as the broader market digests the recent surge.
The rally has been aided by easier financial conditions and a more supportive regulatory backdrop. U.S. Treasury yields have edged lower from 4.74% to 4.64% on the 10-year note in recent sessions, while the fed funds rate is seen at 3.625% for August, a combination that tends to support risk assets and reduce the relative appeal of cash and bonds.
For investors, the key question is not whether crypto has momentum — it clearly does — but whether the move can continue without a reset. Bitcoin is trading well above its 50-day average of $66,064.68 and its 200-day average of $69,173.52, while Ethereum sits above both its 50-day average of $1,962.04 and its 200-day average of $2,014.24. XRP is also above its 50-day average of $1.12 and 200-day average of $1.28, leaving the tokens vulnerable if buyers step back.
The latest setup suggests a market driven more by positioning and technical strength than fresh fundamental catalysts. That leaves the next moves likely to hinge on whether inflows continue into spot crypto products and whether macro data or Federal Reserve expectations shift U.S. yields higher again.
