US-listed spot Ether and XRP ETF buying streaks snapped on Wednesday as crypto prices slipped, while Bitcoin funds pulled in fresh cash after a day of heavy outflows.
Ether and XRP ETF inflow streaks end
The reversal matters because it shows how quickly institutional appetite for the sector can rotate between the major tokens, even after several sessions of strong demand had pushed assets higher and lifted expectations for sustained ETF-driven inflows.
Spot Ether ETFs saw $48 million of net outflows, ending a 12-day run that brought in $1.62 billion, according to SoSoValue. BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF led the withdrawals with $53.4 million, while Fidelity’s Ethereum Fund lost $26.2 million and Grayscale’s Ethereum Staking ETF shed $23.5 million, Farside Investors data showed.
BlackRock’s staked Ether ETF partially offset the damage with about $53 million in inflows, but the overall message was clear: investors took profits after a sharp run. Ether was down 3.4% over seven days at the time of publication, trading around $2,407.
XRP ETFs also broke an 11-session inflow streak after $7.2 million of outflows. The prior run added about $170 million and lifted cumulative XRP ETF inflows to roughly $1.68 billion, underscoring how quickly even newer crypto products can attract institutional money when sentiment improves.
Bitcoin funds moved the other way, taking in $101.2 million after $236.5 million of outflows a day earlier. That rebound suggests capital is still rotating inside crypto rather than fleeing the asset class outright, with Bitcoin seen as the cleaner beta trade when risk appetite weakens.
The broader market backdrop was softer across major tokens. Bitcoin fell 1.3% over seven days to about $77,744, while XRP slipped 2.4% to roughly $1.36. For investors, the flow data point to a market still driven by price momentum, with ETF demand likely to remain sensitive to short-term swings in Bitcoin, Ether and XRP.
The next test is whether Wednesday’s outflows mark only a pause after a strong run, or the start of a broader cooling in altcoin ETF demand if crypto prices keep drifting lower.
