Ethereum Holds Above $2,500 as ETF Inflows Rise

Ethereum is consolidating above $2,500 even as U.S. investors pour money into ether funds, giving the token a technical setup that traders say could favor another leg higher. The move matters because fresh ETF demand is helping absorb supply while Ethereum holds a bullish chart pattern that often precedes continuation.
ETH traded at $2,502.63 on Sept. 6, up more than 63% from its year low, with the 50-day moving average at $2,102.80 now above the 200-day moving average at $2,038.82, a classic golden cross watched by momentum traders. RSI readings near 53 suggest the token is no longer oversold, while the price remains well below the upper Bollinger Band at $2,689.03, leaving room for a further advance if buyers keep pressing.
The biggest immediate catalyst is the surge in ETF inflows. U.S. Ethereum funds pulled in more than $26 million on Friday and over $218 million for the week, taking August inflows to $1.8 billion and total assets to $15.57 billion. The iShares Staked Ethereum Trust, ETHB, has been the standout, gathering more than $980 million since its March launch and becoming the fifth-largest ether fund.
ETHB’s staking feature gives it a yield edge that has resonated with investors looking for income as well as price exposure. BlackRock stakes the trust’s assets, allowing holders to offset the 0.25% fee with an annual staking return of about 2.65%, a structure that has helped ETHB move ahead of funds from Bitwise, VanEck and Franklin Templeton.
The inflows also come as crypto sentiment improves after months of tight trading ranges and a rotation away from equities, especially some high-profile AI stocks that have fallen into bear markets. Adalytica’s Ethereum Fear & Greed Index shows sentiment at 32, but awareness at 8, reflecting extreme fear even as capital returns to the sector.
For investors, the setup is straightforward: if ETF demand stays hot and ETH holds above its recent consolidation range, the bull flag pattern points to a potential breakout. The main risk is that crypto buying remains fickle, and Ethereum still has to clear nearby resistance around the mid-$2,500s before the market can argue the next trend leg has begun.
