Indian equities added more than ₹3.65 trillion in value across nine of the 10 most valuable companies last week, with Tata Consultancy Services leading the gains as a broad rally in IT stocks and heavyweight counters pushed the country’s largest listed firms higher.
Indian equities add ₹3.65 trillion in top-10 value

The move matters because it shows large-cap leadership has returned to the market at a time when investors are rewarding companies with visible earnings momentum, especially after a better-than-expected quarterly showing from technology names. For index investors, the rise in the market values of the biggest stocks can support benchmark levels and improve risk appetite even when broader sentiment remains uneven.
TCS added ₹1.09 trillion in market capitalization to reach ₹8.91 trillion, the biggest increase among the top 10. Bharti Airtel’s market value rose ₹61,407 crore to ₹11.89 trillion, while Infosys gained ₹55,893 crore to ₹4.71 trillion and Reliance Industries added ₹53,048 crore to ₹16.37 trillion.
Banks also participated in the rebound. HDFC Bank’s market cap climbed ₹32,379 crore to ₹11.23 trillion, and ICICI Bank rose ₹30,770 crore to ₹10.03 trillion. Bajaj Finance, LIC and State Bank of India also posted smaller gains.
Larsen & Toubro was the only laggard, with its market value slipping ₹9,232 crore to ₹4.99 trillion. Reliance remained India’s most valuable company, followed by Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and TCS.
The market-cap jump came as the Sensex rose 2,256.94 points, or 3.11%, and the Nifty gained 2.77%, its strongest weekly showing in about six months. That kind of advance can attract fresh institutional flows, but it also leaves investors watching whether earnings-led buying in IT can broaden out or fade if macro and sector-specific pressures return.
