Japan Marine Foods to build octopus plant in Shimonoseki

The plant is scheduled to start operations in January 2028.
The move gives the company a way to capture more value from a product that is drawing stronger commercial interest in Japan and abroad. Octopus is increasingly important in premium food markets, from Japanese cuisine to export-oriented seafood channels, even as catches and trade flows fluctuate across key sourcing regions.
