Kaunas IN recruits for Nemuno sala Ferris wheel

Kaunas city-backed tourism operator Kaunas IN is already recruiting staff for a 45-meter Ferris wheel in Nemuno sala, even as the project still faces questions over permits and documents, underscoring how quickly local authorities want the attraction ready for visitors and ticket sales.
The job ad puts the monthly base pay at a coefficient of 1.1 to 1.3, which works out to about 1,977.80 euros to 2,337.40 euros gross a month, or roughly 1,265 to 1,447 euros net based on Lithuania’s 2026 base salary of 1,798 euros. That puts the offer near the average gross wage in western and central Lithuania, which the State Data Agency said was 2,425.7 euros in the second quarter of this year.
The post shows the municipality is treating the wheel as a long-term operating asset, not just a temporary event. It is offering an indefinite contract for shift work seven days a week, including weekends and holidays, and wants at least a secondary education, Lithuanian and English language skills, ticket selling experience and responsibility for boarding, unloading, daily equipment checks and cleaning.
For Kaunas, the attraction is part of a broader push to turn Nemuno sala into a higher-traffic leisure destination. The city said on Aug. 31 the wheel had been completed earlier than planned and was chosen for the area because of heavy pedestrian flow, while officials have described it as a mobile structure that can later be relocated elsewhere.
Investors and local watchers are focused less on the wheel itself than on what it says about municipal spending, tourism traffic and execution risk. The project has drawn scrutiny after reports that the foundations were formalized as pedestrian paths, and a renewed request for project documents sent on Sept. 1 has not yet been answered.
The next catalyst is whether the city clears up the paperwork around the project and whether the attraction opens on schedule, which will determine how quickly Kaunas can convert the buildout into foot traffic and revenue.
