Pintu Futures Lite lifts new-user trading volume
Pintu’s futures trading push is paying off fast: new-user volume on Pintu Futures rose more than 200% in the two months after the company rolled out Pintu Futures Lite, a sign that simpler crypto derivatives products are widening the market in Indonesia.
For investors, that matters because derivatives are where crypto platforms can often generate deeper and more durable monetization than in basic spot trading. The move from curiosity to repeat activity is what turns a novelty product into a meaningful revenue stream, and Pintu said the average trading volume per new user climbed more than 70% in the same July-August period.
The company’s own numbers suggest the launch did more than just attract sign-ups. New-user counts nearly doubled, implying the Lite format is lowering the intimidation factor for beginner and intermediate traders. That is an important commercial advantage in a market where complex futures interfaces can be a barrier to entry.
Bitcoin was one of the top three assets traded on Pintu Futures, alongside Hype and Xaut, underscoring that the product is tapping into both the largest cryptocurrency brand and a broader appetite for speculative digital assets. That lines up with a wider industry pattern: even as Bitcoin has pulled back from its highs, trading activity around crypto remains resilient, and volatility continues to draw users back to leveraged products.
The backdrop is also supportive. Bitcoin traded around $77,174 on Sept. 11, with the 50-day moving average above the 200-day moving average, a sign the long-term trend remains constructive even after recent swings. Technical readings such as the RSI in the mid-40s suggest the market is neither overheated nor washed out, which often helps keep trader interest alive.
What makes Pintu’s update economically interesting is that it points to a broader shift in Southeast Asia’s crypto market: growth is no longer just about onboarding people into crypto, but about keeping them active in more sophisticated products. If that trend holds, exchanges and brokers with user-friendly derivatives platforms could see stronger engagement, better retention and higher lifetime value per customer.
For long-term investors, the key takeaway is simple: when a financial product becomes easier to use, the addressable market expands. Pintu’s latest jump shows that in crypto, convenience can be a growth catalyst. It is worth watching whether the company can keep converting first-time futures users into durable traders.
