XRP is trading under a cloud of unusually negative sentiment just as one of the biggest institutional crypto plays tied to the token prepares to hit Nasdaq, creating a clear test of whether fear has outpaced fundamentals.
XRP Falls as Evernorth XRPN Nasdaq Listing Nears
That divergence matters because the token’s latest slide is happening alongside a new market structure development that could broaden regulated access to XRP. Santiment’s ratio of bullish to bearish comments on X, Telegram and Reddit fell to 0.67, its weakest reading since mid-August, which the analytics platform says can sometimes act as a contrarian signal. At the same time, shareholders of Armada Acquisition Corp. II approved a merger with Evernorth on Sept. 30, with the combined company expected to trade as XRPN on Oct. 8 after closing on Oct. 7.
Evernorth’s planned debut is economically significant because it would create one of the largest publicly listed vehicles focused on building XRP reserves. The company says it expects about $300 million in gross proceeds and plans to hold roughly 473 million XRP, with backing from Ripple, SBI Group, Pantera Capital, Kraken, GSR and Arrington Capital. For investors, that combination of capital, token ownership and a Nasdaq listing turns XRP from a largely retail-led trade into something closer to an institutional treasury asset with a transparent wrapper.
The market, however, is not yet rewarding that narrative. XRP has been struggling to recover recent losses, with spot selling still dominating price action and the token failing to reclaim the psychologically important $1.50 area in the wider market context. The sentiment breakdown suggests traders are still focused on supply overhang, execution risk and the possibility that fresh institutional demand may take time to absorb existing selling.
Technically, the token’s setup remains mixed rather than decisively bullish. XRP closed at $1.49 in the latest data, above its 50-day moving average of $1.38 and its 200-day average of $1.28, but the RSI at 61.3 shows momentum has cooled from overbought levels earlier in the week. That leaves room for a bounce if the Evernorth listing attracts flows, though the market will likely want confirmation that the new vehicle can sustain demand rather than merely spark a short-lived headline rally.
The bull case is straightforward: extreme pessimism can mark a tradable bottom, and a regulated Nasdaq-listed XRP reserve company could deepen liquidity, improve legitimacy and draw in investors who cannot or will not buy the token directly. The bear case is that sentiment can stay depressed for weeks, token supply dynamics remain murky, and institutional wrappers do not automatically translate into immediate spot demand.
For now, XRP sits at the intersection of two competing forces: weak near-term market psychology and a more constructive institutional adoption story. The next few sessions, and particularly the XRPN listing window, will show whether that pessimism was a contrarian cue or just a pause in a broader reset.
