XRP is drawing fresh speculative demand after large holders reportedly bought more than $2 billion of the token, helping lift the price back above $1.50 and revive talk of a much larger breakout.
XRP Whale Buying Pushes Price Above $1.50
The move matters because XRP has spent months trapped in a corrective pattern, and the latest buying wave is pushing it closer to technical levels that could determine whether the rally has real staying power or fades into another failed bounce. For investors, the question is whether whale accumulation is the start of a structural reversal or just a liquidity-driven trade ahead of overhead resistance.
Veteran trader Peter Brandt added fuel to the move by saying XRP could eventually reach $5.40, a level that would imply roughly 240% upside from around $1.60. His long-term chart points to an attempt to break a descending trend line that has capped XRP since 2018, although he stressed the setup is not a buy recommendation.
Near term, traders are watching $1.60 as the first key barrier, with on-chain analysis from Ali Martinez suggesting that zone could draw profit-taking. XRP’s recent rally has already lifted it toward that area, with the token up 8.22% in three days in one reading cited by Martinez.
The technical picture is improving, but it is not yet decisively bullish. XRP remains below its 18-month moving average near $1.88, which continues to act as a larger resistance level, while the broader structure still looks corrective despite a rebound from this year’s lows.
The price action also stands in contrast to the torrent of buying from large wallets and the renewed institutional appetite seen across crypto markets. If whale demand keeps absorbing supply and XRP clears $1.60, then traders may test whether the market can push toward $1.88 and eventually challenge the longer-term downtrend line Brandt highlighted.
For now, the rally depends on whether buyers can keep control through the next resistance zone and avoid another round of distribution from holders looking to cash in after a sharp rebound.
