Enbridge shares are pressing closer to their recent highs while MongoDB is giving back part of this year’s huge rally, underscoring a sharp rotation between defensive energy cash flow and high-beta software names as investors head toward the next earnings stretch.
Enbridge Holds Near Highs as MongoDB Pulls Back

Enbridge closed at 50.52 on Sept. 3, just above its 200-day moving average of 50.91 and only a step away from the lower end of its recent trading range. The Canadian pipeline operator has been steady even as broader sentiment in the group has softened, with the stock holding well above levels seen earlier this summer after a run that pushed it as high as 53.98 in April.
For investors, the more important point is that Enbridge’s move reflects demand for income and transport assets at a time when markets are still weighing growth risk, rate expectations and sector leadership. A firm pipeline operator with a large asset base can look attractive when traders want cash flow visibility and less earnings volatility than in software or other long-duration growth names.
MongoDB is moving the other way. The database software maker closed at 384.45 on Sept. 3, recovering slightly from a sharp drop to 375.40 the prior session, but the stock remains far below its Aug. 13 peak of 472.29. The pullback has brought MongoDB closer to its 50-day average of 371.95, after the shares had spent much of the summer trading well above that level.
The damage matters because MongoDB has been one of the market’s most volatile growth winners, and the recent swing shows how quickly investors can punish richly valued tech when momentum cools. Even after the retreat, the shares are still above the 200-day moving average of 342.30, suggesting the longer-term trend remains intact, but the gap from the highs is large enough to keep traders focused on whether customer growth and spending can justify the valuation.
The split between Enbridge and MongoDB fits a broader market pattern: investors are still willing to pay for growth, but only where earnings delivery is clear, while steadier cash generators continue to attract capital when the macro backdrop looks uncertain. That makes the next round of results and guidance especially important for both names, with rate moves, energy demand and enterprise software spending likely to shape the next leg.
