BMW is adding a new layer of high-margin personalization to the freshly launched X3 M and X4 M, giving buyers of its performance SUVs access to M Performance accessories designed to sharpen the cars’ styling and, in some cases, aerodynamics.
BMW X3 M and X4 M Add M Performance Accessories

The move matters because accessories and branded options are one of the easiest ways for automakers to lift transaction prices without changing the core vehicle lineup. For BMW, the packages help reinforce the M brand’s premium positioning while creating another revenue stream around a model family already pitched as a halo product in the midsize Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe segment.
The accessory range covers both the standard X3 M and X4 M as well as the Competition versions. BMW is offering carbon-fiber exterior pieces including a radiator grille, Air Breathers, sill trims, roof spoiler for the X3 M and rear winglets for the X4 M, along with M Performance badging, LED door projectors and illuminated graphics.
Inside, BMW is pushing a broader catalog of upgrades, from the M Performance Pro steering wheel with Alcantara and carbon-fiber trim to carbon shift paddles, a carbon gear-selector surround, velour floor mats and a carbon-and-Alcantara key case. The parts are framed not just as cosmetic add-ons but as lightweight, function-oriented pieces that BMW says are developed specifically for the two models.
For investors, the bigger takeaway is that BMW is leaning further into monetizing its performance badge and customer loyalty at a time when the industry is juggling electrification spending, margin pressure and a tougher pricing environment. Premium brands have been working harder to preserve profitability through options, accessories and aftersales, especially as consumers become more selective on big-ticket vehicle purchases.
The X3 M and X4 M accessories also fit BMW’s broader push to keep its M lineup emotionally differentiated while the company prepares product updates across its core range and expands its electric lineup. That makes the accessories launch less about a single carbon-fiber grille than about BMW’s attempt to keep affluent buyers spending after the initial sale.
