Italy stocks rise as Moncler gains on upgrade

Piazza Affari trades higher at midday, with the Ftse Mib up 0.53% to 52,247 as investors buy into large-cap Italian names while the bond market stays broadly steady. The move matters because it shows risk appetite holding up even as the 10-year BTP yield climbs to 4.40%, keeping financing conditions in focus for Italy’s economy and corporates.
Moncler leads the index with a 3.18% gain after Bernstein upgraded the luxury group to outperform, giving the market a fresh reason to bid up one of Italy’s most internationally exposed consumer names. Poste Italiane rises 2.29% ahead of the reopening on Monday of the take-up period for TIM’s public takeover-and-share exchange offer, extending the deal-driven momentum after the first phase drew strong participation.
Fincantieri adds 2.2% and Stellantis advances 1.88%, underscoring the rotation into industrial and cyclical blue chips. On the downside, Inwit slips 0.91%, while Amplifon and Buzzi fall 0.78% each, showing the rally is selective rather than broad-based.
Outside the main index, Pininfarina surges 18.2% to 1 euro, almost matching the price in the voluntary all-share takeover bid from PF Holdings, the Mahindra-controlled vehicle that already owns 78.8% of the design and engineering company. The jump highlights how takeover pricing is setting the tone for smaller Italian stocks, even as the broader market remains tied to earnings and deal expectations.
The bond backdrop is stable but not complacent: the BTP-Bund spread holds above 87 basis points, while the U.S. high-yield risk gauge and Treasury signals point to a mixed global fixed-income mood. For investors, the near-term catalysts are the TIM offer reopening, follow-through on broker upgrades, and any further move in Italian yields that could test the current equity bid.
