The Nasdaq rose to another record on Tuesday, with the tech-heavy benchmark extending a rally fueled by strong earnings, relentless demand for AI-linked stocks and investor confidence that large U.S. companies can absorb higher rates and other macro pressures.
Nasdaq 100 QQQ Hits Record High

The Invesco QQQ Trust, which tracks the Nasdaq 100, climbed to 759.66, up from 756.20 on Oct. 5 and 749.58 on Oct. 2, putting it more than 9% above its 50-day moving average of 719.24. The latest move leaves the fund deep in overbought territory, with the relative strength index at 83.0, a level that often reflects stretched short-term momentum even as buyers keep pressing higher.

That matters because the rally is doing more than lifting a handful of megacap names. It is reinforcing the market’s preference for growth, artificial intelligence and scale, while sidelining more rate-sensitive parts of the market. The S&P 500 trade signals from Adalytica.com showed “Extreme Greed,” underscoring how aggressively investors have chased the move in recent sessions.
Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple and other heavyweight tech names have helped drive the advance, but the broader message is that investors are willing to look through bond-yield volatility and focus on earnings resilience. Apple rose to 333.63 on Oct. 6, while Nasdaq-tracking shares also held near highs, suggesting institutional money is still rotating into the market’s biggest growth winners.

The Nasdaq’s run comes after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 both closed at record highs, a sign that the leadership remains concentrated but durable. Nasdaq Inc. shares, meanwhile, were little changed at 92.27, showing the exchange operator is benefiting from market activity without matching the index-level upside.
With the QQQ now near the upper end of its Bollinger Band range and above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, investors will be watching whether upcoming earnings can justify the valuation reset embedded in the rally. Any disappointment on AI spending, margins or rates could quickly test how far this record-setting momentum can go.
