XRP is stuck at its daily pivot near $1.37, with short-term momentum fading and a cluster of moving averages overhead keeping traders on the defensive.
XRP Holds Near $1.37 as Momentum Fades
The token was last at $1.37 on Oct. 14, down 0.39% over 24 hours, after trading in a tight $1.35 to $1.38 range on about $137.2 million in spot volume. That leaves XRP just below immediate resistance at $1.39 and $1.40, while support at $1.35 and $1.33 remains intact for now.
The broader technical picture favors caution. XRP is below its 7-day simple moving average of $1.38, its 50-day average at $1.42, the 12-day EMA at $1.41, the 26-day EMA at $1.43 and the 20-day Bollinger midline at $1.46. The 200-day simple moving average at $1.28 still sits well below spot, showing the longer-term trend has not fully broken, but the near-term setup has clearly weakened.
Momentum signals point to a market that has stopped selling off aggressively, but has not yet attracted fresh buyers. The 14-day RSI at 42.39 is neutral, while the MACD and signal line are both at -0.0154, producing a flat histogram that suggests bearish pressure has stalled rather than reversed. XRP’s Bollinger %B reading of 0.1554 places the token close to the lower band at $1.33, and the stochastic oscillator remains in the lower part of its range.
Derivatives positioning is mixed. Binance futures open interest stood at about $403.7 million, down 0.80% in 24 hours, indicating a modest pullback in leverage. Yet Binance account data still showed traders leaning long, with 73.3% of accounts positioned that way in the 1-hour global long/short ratio, and top traders similarly skewed long at 76.5%.
That mismatch between cautious price action and persistent long positioning leaves XRP vulnerable if support gives way. A daily close below $1.33 would break both strong support and the lower Bollinger band, while a reclaim of $1.40 would be the first sign buyers are regaining control. CoinDCX has projected a weekly range of $1.38 to $1.47, but XRP has not yet decisively entered that band.
| Entity | Gains | Losses |
|---|---|---|
| XRP bulls | ▲Hold support if $1.33 keeps | ▼Need a breakout above $1.40 |
| XRP bears | ▲Benefit from weak momentum | ▼Lose if buying returns above pivot |
| Long futures traders | ▲Can still lean on support | ▼Face pressure if open interest unwinds |
| Spot buyers | ▲May get lower entry near $1.33 | ▼Miss upside if resistance breaks first |
