Aeon Vietnam is ramping up its expansion outside the country’s biggest cities, with plans to add more than 3,000 jobs in 2026 as it opens three new outlets in Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa and Quang Ninh. The move matters because it shows how Vietnam’s retail growth is spreading into provincial markets, creating local hiring demand and deepening modern trade infrastructure beyond Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Aeon Vietnam plans 3 new stores and 3,000 jobs

Aeon, which sees Vietnam as one of its most important overseas markets, is targeting a threefold expansion in scale by 2030. The company said it expects to lift headcount to more than 12,000 by the end of 2026, underscoring how aggressively it is building out stores, operations and management benches to support that plan.
The hiring push comes ahead of three store openings scheduled for October and November 2026, and Aeon has already held recruitment fairs in Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa and Quang Ninh that drew thousands of applicants. The openings span entry-level and management roles, including team leaders, shift supervisors and store supervisors, while part-time hiring will continue through year-end to cover the Lunar New Year shopping season.
For Vietnam’s retail sector, the expansion highlights a longer-term shift from traditional retail toward modern formats in provincial cities, where rising middle-class incomes and younger households are increasing demand for organized shopping. That is economically relevant because retail buildout supports construction, logistics, consumer spending and wage creation in local economies that historically have had fewer career pathways than major urban centers.
Aeon is also using the rollout to position itself as a talent developer rather than just a store operator. The company said it offers two career tracks — a generalist path with internal rotation and a specialist path — and backs them with training through Aeon Academy and management programs designed to feed future store leaders.
That matters to investors because the strategy suggests Aeon is trying to lock in labor, loyalty and operating scale in Vietnam at a time when competition for experienced retail staff is intensifying. A bigger provincial footprint can also help the Japanese retailer capture consumer demand outside the top two cities while broadening its earnings base in one of Asia’s faster-growing consumer markets.
Aeon said it will continue accepting applications for full-time and part-time roles across its nationwide network, including the new Aeon Hai Duong location in Hai Phong, Aeon Thanh Hoa and Aeon Ha Long in Quang Ninh, as it pushes toward its 2030 growth target.
