Bitcoin’s jump back above $81,000 is the clearest market signal in a story that is also about cash staying plentiful in the banking system, with Vietnamese household deposits at credit institutions reaching a record more than 11.2 quadrillion dong at the end of July.
Bitcoin Tops $81,000 as Vietnam Deposits Hit Record

That combination matters because it points to two forces moving at once: abundant local liquidity parked in deposits, and a global risk bid returning to crypto after weeks of volatility. For investors, it keeps capital flowing toward assets seen as higher-beta stores of value while also underscoring how much cash remains available inside banks if sentiment shifts.
The State Bank said resident deposits rose 151.7 trillion dong from June and were up 8.56% from the end of 2025, the highest level on record for household money inside the banking system. Higher deposit balances usually reflect both cautious savers chasing attractive rates and a broader preference for liquidity in an environment shaped by tighter global financial conditions.
At the same time, bitcoin surged as high as $81,702 before settling around $81,359, up 5.62% on the day and back above $80,000 for the first time since Sept. 7. The move came as investors reversed a bearish tone almost overnight, with the token’s recovery reinforcing how quickly crypto sentiment can turn when risk appetite improves.
The rally also spilled into crypto-linked equities. Coinbase gained and MicroStrategy advanced, reflecting renewed demand for companies tied to bitcoin’s price, even as both stocks remain highly sensitive to swings in the underlying asset.
Technical readings on bitcoin show momentum improving: the 14-day relative strength index has risen to about 65, while the token is trading above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Those are conventional market indicators, and together they suggest the rebound has more room to run if buyers keep control.
For Vietnam, the deposit record matters beyond banking because it points to a still-large domestic savings pool that can move quickly if rates, inflation or asset prices change. For crypto investors, the immediate question is whether bitcoin can hold above $80,000 and extend toward its recent highs, with broader risk sentiment and U.S. policy expectations likely to drive the next leg.
