Meta is rolling out its first bundled subscription plan in India, charging from Rs 79 a month for expanded AI access and creator tools across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, as the company looks to turn its fast-growing AI product push into direct consumer revenue.
Meta launches India subscription plan for AI tools

The move matters because India is one of Meta’s biggest user markets and one of the clearest tests of whether consumers will pay for premium AI features in a price-sensitive economy. By packaging more than 50 features into Meta One, the company is betting that affordable subscriptions can lift monetization without leaning only on advertising.
Meta said the plan offers higher usage limits for Meta AI, additional personalization and self-expression tools, and features aimed at creators. The company also said the bundle is only the beginning, with plans to extend Meta One to Edits, its video-editing app, and later to AI glasses and other products.
For investors, the subscription push adds another possible revenue stream to a business still driven mainly by ads, while reinforcing Meta’s broader shift toward AI and devices. Meta shares have been volatile this year, but technical readings showed the stock above its 50-day moving average and near the upper end of its recent trading range, underscoring how closely the market is watching execution on AI commercialization.
The launch also comes as India steps up scrutiny of AI misuse and governance, including recent high-profile cases involving fake AI-generated content. That backdrop could make paid, more controlled AI services more attractive to both platforms and regulators as the market for consumer AI matures.
The key question now is whether Meta can convert scale in India into recurring paid adoption without alienating a user base accustomed to free services, and whether the model can later be expanded beyond India to other emerging markets.
