XRP has rebounded nearly 8% from its Oct. 18 low, but the move still lacks the one thing traders want most: a close back above $1.40.
XRP Rebounds Toward $1.40 After October Low
The token rose 4.2% in the past 24 hours to about $1.35, making it the strongest performer among the four largest non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies, yet it remains well below the level that has repeatedly turned back rallies this year. Every attempt to finish above $1.40 in 2026 has faded quickly, and the latest bounce again stalled just under that threshold.
That matters because $1.40 is not just a round number. XRP last closed above it on Oct. 11, and the token’s 20-day and 50-day moving averages are clustered around that area, making it the key line between a short-term recovery and another failed rebound. XRP would need to climb about 3.7% from current levels just to reclaim $1.40, and a move to $1.50 would require an 11% gain from here.
The market backdrop is still uneven. XRP is down 0.7% over the past week, 7.9% over the last 30 days and 27.3% year to date. It remains about 63% below its all-time high of $3.65, underscoring how far the token still has to go before any recovery looks durable.
Institutional support is also thin for now. Spot XRP ETFs recorded zero net flows on Oct. 19 and 20, leaving the latest bounce without fresh fund inflows to help extend it. That absence matters for investors because crypto rallies often need either new capital or a clear catalyst to turn technical bounces into sustained trends.
Technical indicators point to a market that is trying to stabilize, but not yet convincing buyers. XRP’s 50-day average sits near $1.41, while its relative strength index has recovered from deeply oversold levels and is now back in neutral territory. Bitcoin’s own choppy trade near $79,600 adds to the cautious tone across the sector.
For investors, the next test is straightforward: XRP needs a daily close above $1.40, then follow-through above the moving averages, to show the bounce is more than a short squeeze. Failure there leaves the token vulnerable to another slide toward the mid-$1.20s, especially if ETF flows stay flat and broader crypto sentiment cools.
