XRP is still struggling to hold $1.40 even as online sentiment turns less bearish, underscoring a gap between improving chatter and real price support.
XRP Struggles to Hold $1.40 as Sentiment Improves

Santiment said XRP recorded 0.92 bullish comments for every bearish one in its Oct. 13 reading, up from 0.67 at the start of the month, but still below parity. That means bearish discussion remains more common than bullish commentary, even after the tone improved across X, Reddit and Telegram.
The price action tells a harsher story. XRP fell more than 9% over the week and the token closed at $1.33 on Oct. 15, after briefly trading near $1.36 a day earlier. The move leaves $1.40 as the near-term level to beat, with the latest decline showing that a better social mood has not yet translated into sustained demand.
By contrast, Ethereum’s bullish-to-bearish ratio climbed to 2.05, which Santiment described as FOMO territory. That split matters for traders because it shows capital and attention are still concentrating elsewhere in crypto, while XRP remains a laggard despite a recent pickup in discussion.
Technical indicators are still leaning cautious. XRP’s 50-day moving average sits at $1.42, above the current price, while the 14-day RSI was 27.1 on Oct. 15, a reading that reflects deeply weak momentum even after a bounce from earlier lows. The MACD remained negative, reinforcing the view that sellers still have the upper hand.
The broader setup leaves investors focused on whether XRP can reclaim $1.40 and then its 50-day average, or whether the token’s improving social tone will again prove premature. Until price action confirms the sentiment shift, XRP remains a test of whether renewed interest can overcome persistent selling pressure.
