Alinma REIT Hotel has won board approval to repurchase as much as 10% of its units, a move that could help support the Saudi hospitality fund’s price while giving it a flexible currency for future acquisitions.
Alinma REIT Hotel approves plan to buy back units

The fund, managed by Alinma Financial, said the planned buyback would cover up to 10.2 million units, equal to 10% of total outstanding units, and would be executed on the open market rather than through private deals. Management said the repurchase is aimed at taking advantage of current unit prices, which the board believes are below fair value.
The units would be held as treasury units and may later be used in swaps to acquire new hotel and real estate assets, giving the fund a way to expand without immediately deploying cash. That matters for investors because it preserves liquidity while potentially improving per-unit value if the market continues to discount the trust.
Funding would come from one or more sources, including the fund’s credit facilities or excess operating cash flow. The plan still needs approval from unit holders through a special resolution, and the manager would have up to 12 months from approval to carry out the purchases, though execution would remain discretionary depending on market conditions and unit price movements.
For investors, the proposal signals management sees room to create value through capital allocation at a time when REITs and other listed vehicles are using buybacks to defend valuations and prepare for expansion. The next catalyst is the unit-holder vote and any disclosure on the timing, financing and eventual use of the treasury units.
