Galicia’s average income per person rose 5.6% in 2024 to 15,471 euros, but the northwest Spanish region still lagged the national pace and remains marked by sharp local disparities, according to new data from Spain’s statistics office.
Galicia income rises 5.6% to 15,471 euros in 2024

The increase was slightly below the 6.1% rise in Spain overall, where disposable income reached 15,948 euros per capita, suggesting Galicia is losing a bit of ground in its convergence with the national average. For investors and policymakers, that matters because income growth feeds household spending, housing demand and the broader resilience of local economies, while uneven gains point to pockets of persistent weakness.
The INE’s Atlas de Distribución de Renta de los Hogares shows Galicia as a patchwork of wealthy and poorer enclaves rather than a uniform regional story. Oleiros once again ranked as the richest municipality in the community, with net income of 20,827 euros per resident, while Avión remained at the bottom at 10,083 euros.
That gap is more than a statistical curiosity. It highlights how regional income distribution can shape consumption patterns, real estate demand and the viability of local businesses, especially in smaller municipalities where spending power diverges sharply street by street.
The latest figures also fit a wider European focus on income support and living standards, with governments increasingly under pressure to translate growth into durable wage gains rather than headline GDP alone. In Galicia, the next test will be whether the income recovery broadens beyond the strongest municipalities or remains concentrated in a handful of higher-earning areas.
