Vietnam durian prices rise in Dak Lak province

In Dak Lak, Thai durian graded for standard flesh is listed at 85,000 to 100,000 dong per kilogram, while Grade B fetches 62,000 to 80,000 dong. Other Thai durian grades are quoted at 82,000 to 90,000 dong for Grade A and 60,000 to 80,000 dong for Grade B, with lower-quality fruit falling to 25,000 to 34,000 dong and damaged fruit as low as 14,000 dong.

The premium is not limited to Dak Lak. In Gia Lai, Thai durian Grade A is quoted at 90,000 dong per kilogram and Grade B at 70,000 dong, while in the Mekong Delta the same fruit trades at 67,000 to 70,000 dong for Grade A and around 47,000 dong for Grade B. Lâm Đồng prices are also firm, with Thai durian Grade A at 80,000 to 92,000 dong and damaged fruit at 63,000 to 72,000 dong.

That gap is what matters for investors and traders: the market is rewarding quality, which supports margins for growers with better orchards and post-harvest handling, but leaves weaker suppliers exposed to steep discounts. Ri6 durian remains far cheaper, trading at about 35,000 dong for Grade A in Dak Lak and Gia Lai, showing how variety and quality continue to drive pricing power.

For the broader fruit market, the latest quotes suggest supply is still not enough to loosen prices for premium Thai durian, even as lower grades remain available. The next catalyst will be harvest flow and export demand, which will determine whether the current premium holds or narrows as more fruit reaches market.
