Rainfall in key growing regions is deepening uncertainty around the corn harvest and pressuring U.S. grain prices, with the Teucrium Corn Fund falling to $17.68 as traders weigh weather damage against still-adequate supply prospects.
Corn Fund Falls as Midwest Rain Delays Harvest

The move matters because corn is one of the benchmark crops for global feed, fuel and food markets, and weather disruptions can quickly alter planting and harvest expectations across the Midwest and beyond. When harvest risk rises, end users from ethanol producers to livestock feeders face more volatile input costs, while traders in grain futures see tighter timing risk and wider swings.
Corn’s slide comes even as the broader crop complex shows stress from extreme weather. Heavy rainfall in Australia’s Darling Downs has triggered road closures and landslide warnings, while drought and frost have hit corn output in parts of South America, reinforcing the market’s sensitivity to any fresh supply shock.
The Corn ETF closed Thursday at $17.68, down for a third straight session, after hitting $20.27 in late September. Its 50-day moving average stood at $19.23, while the relative strength index dropped to 24.2, a level traders often associate with oversold conditions.
Wheat also weakened, with the Teucrium Wheat Fund finishing at $22.83, while Archer-Daniels-Midland ended at $80.14, little changed but still below its recent highs. ADM remains exposed to grain handling, merchandising and processing margins, so any prolonged harvest disruption could lift volatility even if it does not immediately translate into higher crop prices.
The bigger market question is whether rainfall delays in the U.S. Midwest and other key belts prove temporary or become enough to tighten supplies into year-end. Traders will be watching updated crop estimates and weather maps closely for the next price catalyst.
