The S&P 500 pushed to a fresh high Tuesday even as the rally lost some momentum intraday, with investors still rotating into AI-linked names and industrial beneficiaries while small caps lagged.
S&P 500 Hits Record as AI Stocks Lead

The advance underscores how concentrated the market’s leadership has become. Astera Labs, GE Vernova and Arista Networks were among the standout AI-related gainers, extending a rally that has pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to record territory and left the Dow Jones futures modestly higher after the close.

The move mattered because it shows investors continuing to pay up for companies tied to data-center buildout, power demand and networking infrastructure. That trade is helping offset weakness in smaller stocks, which fell during the session, suggesting the broader market is still being driven by a narrow group of large-cap growth and energy-transition winners.
Astera Labs has been one of the sharpest movers in the group. The stock closed at $382.25 on Tuesday, far above its 50-day moving average of $314.66, after trading as high as $388.14. Arista Networks ended at $215.83, also near record levels and above its 50-day average of $195.89, while GE Vernova finished at $997.09 after briefly touching $1,014.95.

Technical readings also show stretched conditions across some of the leaders. Astera Labs’ relative strength index was 79.1, while GE Vernova’s was 70.5 and Arista’s 78.3, levels that often indicate strong momentum but also leave shares vulnerable to pullbacks if the market cools.
The broader market backdrop remains supportive. Adalytica’s S&P 500 trade signals show extreme greed at 98, reflecting a fast-paced rally that has kept buyers in control even as awareness remains low. That mix has tended to favor momentum names, especially those tied to artificial intelligence spending, semiconductors, networking gear and electric power demand.
For investors, the key question is whether the current leadership can broaden out or whether the market remains dependent on a handful of high-flying AI and infrastructure names. The next catalyst is likely to be the next round of earnings and guidance from data-center, semiconductor and power-equipment companies, along with any shift in rates or macro sentiment that could test valuations.
