TotalEnergies has signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas supply agreement with China’s Jiangsu Guoxin, a deal that underscores how importers are racing to secure fuel amid volatile global gas markets and geopolitical supply risk.
TotalEnergies signs 15-year LNG supply deal with Jiangsu Guoxin

The long-term contract gives the French energy major another anchor customer in Asia at a time when LNG buyers are increasingly favoring multi-year deals over spot cargoes. For investors, that matters because such agreements help stabilize cash flow, support project financing and reduce exposure to price swings that have rocked the gas market in recent years.
The deal lands in a market still sensitive to supply disruptions and geopolitical shocks. Adalytica’s Natural Gas Market Trade Signals showed sentiment in “Fear” territory at 27 on Nov. 6, while its 7-day reading fell 36 points, reflecting a softer near-term tone even as demand for contracted supply remains firm.
Brent crude, meanwhile, was forecast around $98.20 a barrel on Nov. 4, with U.S. 10-year Treasury yields hovering near 4.85% in the latest data, a backdrop that keeps energy equities and commodity-linked cash flows in focus for investors weighing inflation, rates and earnings durability.
TotalEnergies shares have eased to 87.82 euros on Nov. 6 from 95.33 euros on Oct. 30, after a sharp run-up earlier in the quarter, leaving the stock near its 50-day moving average and well above its 200-day average. Cheniere Energy, the leading U.S. LNG exporter, has also pulled back to $277.95 from $330.32 over the same stretch, while FLEX LNG has dropped to $26.06 from $31.55, showing how the market has recently cooled even as long-term contracting remains active.
For TotalEnergies, the China deal fits a broader push to deepen its LNG portfolio and secure demand from Asia’s biggest importers. For buyers such as Jiangsu Guoxin, it offers greater supply visibility ahead of winter and less exposure to the spot market’s price spikes.
