The price of standard gold in Borsa Istanbul’s precious metals market rose to 6 million 525 thousand lira per kilogram on Friday, underscoring how sharply domestic bullion has been swinging as investors track global uncertainty and currency signals.
Turkey Gold Price Rises to 6.525 Million Lira
The kilogram price finished the day up 0.5% from 6 million 489 thousand 890 lira a day earlier, after trading between 6 million 498 thousand lira and 6 million 546 thousand 1 lira. The move extends a week of volatile gold pricing in Turkey, where the local market has been reacting to swings in international bullion and shifts in risk appetite.
Gold’s domestic rally matters because Turkey is one of the markets where the metal functions not just as a store of value but also as a benchmark for physical trading and retail demand. When kilogram prices move this quickly, jewellers, traders and households face wider pricing uncertainty, and inventory decisions become harder to manage.
The day’s turnover in gold reached 9.20 billion lira, with trading volume of 1,410.06 kilograms, while total metals turnover came to 9.39 billion lira. The most active institutions were Garanti BBVA, Kuveyt Türk Participation Bank, NMGlobal Precious Metals, Albayrak Döviz ve Altın Yetkili Müessese and Uğuras Precious Metals, pointing to strong participation from banks and metals dealers.
Global gold funds show the same uneven tone. SPDR Gold Shares was at $384.58 on Friday, still below its 50-day average of $397.03 and 200-day average of $415.65, while the RSI reading of 37.9 and negative MACD suggested the rally remains fragile despite the latest rebound.
Adalytica’s Gold Fear & Greed Index showed sentiment at 34, in neutral territory, after plunging to 7 earlier in the week, while awareness climbed to 68. That shift suggests the market is still alert to gold, but not yet confident enough to call the move a sustained breakout.
For investors, the key question is whether gold can hold these gains or slip back into the recent chop. Traders will be watching further moves in global bullion, the dollar and inflation data for clues on whether Turkey’s kilogram gold price keeps climbing or settles back into range-bound trade.
