Waskita Beton Precast is looking to pull more value out of its Cibitung precast plant by teaming up with China’s Hunan Jiangong Concrete and Indonesia’s PT Adhi Industri, a move that could turn idle or underused industrial capacity into a revenue source.
Waskita Beton Precast Seeks Cibitung Plant Deal
The cooperation, outlined in a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2026, is aimed at increasing productivity at the facility, which can produce up to 325,000 tons of precast products a year. For investors, the key question is whether the plant can move from being a fixed cost burden to a cash-generating asset.
The company said the talks cover several structures, including leasing the facility and operating it jointly with the partners, while leaving room for other strategic arrangements. That flexibility matters because it gives Waskita Beton Precast a path to monetize the asset without immediately committing to a single model.
The Cibitung plant can manufacture a range of products used in roads, bridges and other infrastructure, including PC-I girder, Full Slab, Square Pile and Corrugated Concrete Sheet Pile. Bringing in Hunan Jiangong, which works in construction, roads, bridges and ready-mix concrete, also suggests Waskita is seeking operational know-how and possible access to broader project pipelines tied to China’s construction sector.
The move fits a broader pattern of Indonesian infrastructure companies trying to unlock value from existing assets rather than build anew at a time when capital discipline matters more. It also comes as sentiment around U.S.-China relations and China’s policy outlook remains elevated, reflecting a market backdrop in which cross-border cooperation is getting more attention.
For Waskita Beton Precast, the near-term catalyst is whether the company can translate the MoU into a binding commercial arrangement that improves plant utilization and supports earnings. Until then, the asset remains a potential source of upside rather than a guaranteed turnaround.
